This book was useful to me when looking up Catherine Howard, Henry VIII’s third wife in connection to Shakespeare’s Lord Chamberlain’s Men (Catherine was the daughter of Henry Carey, the Lord Hudson who was also Lord Chamberlain and Shakespeare’s patron). This book provided information about the ring Essex was given by the Queen and how Catherine hid said ring. Containing over 700 biographical entries to people in Shakespeare’s lifetime, it’s like a dictionary for people. Great reference. Access the book free online here. The free online version is a digital preview and contains several valuable pages of a powerful reference book, but you should know the digital version is not complete. It works for quotes and singular paper references, but if you need the entire list of 700, you will want to purchase the whole book. You can get that on amazon here (that is an affiliate link).
