Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don't know what I want to podcast about?
That’s ok! We are focusing this group on individuals who are interested in education/history/humanities space and specifically interview based podcasting (because that’s my expertise) but if you aren’t sure exactly what kind of podcast you want to run or the format that will be best for you, we will help you figure that out as part of the training.
How is this online course different from a mastermind group?
The group participation is optional here in the course. In the online course you are getting the same training and step by step guideance as the mastermind group, as well as direct feedback from me, but you do not have the live element of taking the lessons live with a group, and you’re asking your questions after you’ve taken the lessons instead of being able to get feedback live. Additionally, attending the live Q/A as well as participating in the discussion groups for the course are completely optional, meaning you can take the class at your own pace, and are able to refer back to previous lessons whenever you want to do that.
What time commitment am I expected to make?
This course will be setup so that you can consume the material at your own pace, with monthly live chat sessions with me. The live chat will be for 1 hour, and I’ll answer any questions we are not able to cover in the live chat afterwards over email individually. I expect you to block off the live chat dates and times on your calendar to show up and be present for yourself and for your fellow group members. I will also expect you to participate in the discussion group that will be setup for students (I’ll show you how to access and use that) but the whole point of this class is to get live feedback from fellow podcasters, so I want you asking questions and engaging with your fellow course members when they ask for feedback. This class is equal portions give as it is receive.
Who is this group NOT for?
This group is designed for people who are serious about starting a professional podcast. This group is not right for people who want to build a hobby, or who aren’t willing to do the work that separates a hobby from a professional. This group is for those that know where they want to go with their podcast and are ready to invest in building the right foundation so their show is successful for the long term. You need to be willing to show up to the live sessions, ready to help your fellow course members with their actions and goals, while gaining from their collective perspective and input into your own actions and goals. This course is also directly aimed at history and humanities podcasts who want to follow an interview style format. If you’re looking to do a talking-head podcast (where it’s just you each week) this course will still be useful, but there are some specific strategies I’ll teach you that may not apply to non-interview based podcasting. This group is not for podcasters looking to start a live-call in show, radio drama, or docu-drama style show.
Will this course work for me if I don't have an audience or platform yet?
Yes! That’s exactly what this course is designed to help you build. Our first 6 months will be all about helping you decide what you want to build and giving you the tools to establish an audience on the front end so when you launch your show, you already have an audience ready to hear it. (This build-then-launch approach substantially increases your show’s ratings at the beginning, which is a huge part of success long term (and a major way podcasting charts rank shows. I’ll show you exactly how to make this happen.)
What does this course cost?
To take the course with me live every month for the 2023-2024 year is $97/month or $997 if you pay for the year upfront (that’s 2 months free).
Let's build your podcast.
Stop wondering and start doing. It’s time to take your podcast idea and turn it into a reality. We have the proven 12-month framework to help you get it done.
